Birth Prep

In this 3 hour group class we will gain a basic understanding of anatomy and physiology of labor and birth (as defined by first, second, and third stages of labor). We will gain an understanding of the effects of medical interventions on the labor and birth process. We will learn different comfort measures, how to offer support, relaxation and massage techniques, the fear and safety cycles, and the available options and side effects for pain relief in labor. 

We will discuss the importance of the Golden Hour and the long term benefits on bonding, breathing, heart rate, temperature regulation, and breastfeeding. We review the benefits of delayed cord clamping. 

We review all my favorite parts about birth that you will most likely experience. In this class we focus on how to be as prepared as possible, how to surrender to the unknown, and to trust in the process and the care team in which you have picked to walk you through the journey of birth.
